Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin on Wednesday strongly condemned derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, saying the people of Bihar felt “hurt and ashamed” over the comments.
Speaking to ANI, Nabin said the remarks were not only an attack on the Prime Minister but also an affront to Bihar’s people.
“PM Modi has always served the nation like a sevak and uplifted the dignity of women through schemes such as Izzat Ghar, Ujjwala Yojana and PM Awas Yojana. Women across India see him as their brother. The abusive words used from Bihar’s soil have deeply wounded every son of Bihar,” he said, adding that people would not tolerate such insults.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal also condemned the remarks made during the INDIA bloc’s Voter Adhikar Yatra, accusing the opposition of failing to show remorse.
“The people of Bihar and the nation will never forgive them,” Jaiswal said.
Prime Minister Modi himself addressed the controversy during a rally in Bihar on Tuesday, slamming the Congress for “never tolerating leaders from backward communities rising to prominence.”
He said, “The struggles of a poor mother, the suffering of her son—these young princes born with a silver spoon cannot understand. Congress believes naamdaars have the right to abuse kaamdaars.”
The PM also credited women voters for repeatedly defeating the RJD in Bihar, saying their role was pivotal in pulling the state out of “darkness.”
On the remarks targeting his late mother, Modi said, “Mother is our world, our self-respect. These abuses are not just against my mother but an insult to all mothers, sisters, and daughters of this country.”
